Membership Requirements

 

Academic​​

  • Enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh and have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education

  • Demonstrate leadership attributes and commitment to equity

​

​Undergraduate requirements:

  • Completed at least 24 credits of collegiate coursework

  • Maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average

  • At least 6 credits of Professional Education coursework programmed, in progress, completed

Graduate requirements:

  • Completed 6 credits of graduate coursework

  • Maintain at least a 3.25 GPA for all graduate work completed

  • At least 6 credits of Professional Education coursework programmed, in progress, completed

Doctoral requirements:

  • Show evidence of work toward a doctoral degree in education

Committees

  • Members must join one of the following committees:

    • Fundraising Committee

    • Celebration of Teaching Committee

    • Volunteer Committee

    • Membership Committee

 

Attendance

  • Chapter meetings are biweekly on Mondays at 8:45pm

  • Participation in KDP's signature service initiative, Celebration of Teaching

  • Fundraising through bake sales, canning, and the 5K

  • 4 hours of volunteer service with KDP a semester

  • Professional Development event each semester

  • Initiation at the end of the year

  • Attend 4 membership events each semester

Cost

  • $47 annual fee will be paid to the Kappa Delta Pi Society Headquarters

    • This is a mandatory fee paid entirely to Headquarters in order to be a part of the local chapter

  • $50 Initiation fee

    • This is a one time only fee

  • $12, per semester, chapter due

    • This fee will stay with the University of Pittsburgh local chapter
